CCBA EARTHQUAKE NOTICES - Sept 4th 2010
The CCBA updated city businesses daily after the 7.1 magnitude earthquake that hit Canterbury in the early hours of Saturday morning - 4th September, 4.30am.
It was critical to get accurate updated information out to the businesses to ensure we opened the city back up for trade at the earliest and safest possible time.
We have put together a CBD Road Closures and Cordon document to assist you when dealing with your insurance company. This file will give the extent of the cordon on the days and weeks following the earthquake. If you wish to download this file please click on the link - CBD-Road-Closures---Post-Sept-4.pdf (1.30MB)
Monday Sept 6th - 12.31pm
Dear city businesses and property owners,
I have walked the city early this morning and there is a lot of work to do before the doors of the city can be reopened. I know some of you have already managed to get in to assess your situation but it is my understanding that access is still restricted. I have tried to get clear communication about the cordon that is in place through the central part of the city but information is currently being updated on the cordon and when you will be able to come in and assess your situation. It will be only after your assessment we will get some idea of when we can regain some sort of normality. At this point it is safety first and there a current threat that some buildings integrities are severely compromised and could fall.
For those businesses whose buildings are damaged beyond repair, we will do all we can to try and relocate you into a temporary site so you can continue to trade while your building is being restored or rebuilt. Our aim is to minimise the impact that this natural disaster will inevitably have on you, your businesses and properties.
Please do not respond to this email and I will update you later today.
