Central City Business Association
The Christchurch central city is one of Canterbury’s most important public spaces, supporting a broad range of retail, business and community services. It plays a critical role promoting Christchurch and Canterbury as a whole, not to mention being an iconic precinct within the city.
A substantial investment is being made in upgrading and revitalising this area and to support this initiative an independent Central City Business Association has been established.
This entity has a dedicated manager who is there to help implement initiatives on behalf the board and its members.
Each year the CCBA holds an Annual General Meeting for its members to review achievements, discuss the coming year and present our audited accounts to attending members. The CCBA also hold its elections where three CCBA board members must stand down and three new board members are elected. It is a voluntary position and participation is important to ensure a good representation of each business sector and a well balanced view.

Why have a CCBA?
The central city has a dynamic role in the Christchurch economy and requires targeted management to ensure it maintains a competitive edge; a high standard of cleanliness, safety, parking, and consistent shopping hours, as these things reflect our larger community.
The Central City Business Association implemented its business plan and strategy to ensure all key elements are administered to the degree required to achieve results and show evidence of the results.
The CCBA works with the Council and acts as a conduit to the businesses, property owners, stakeholders and other interested parties, providing effective communication to all parties and supporting the Council in every possible way to help manage the revitalisation project and mall upgrade.
We are improving all key elements by forming strong alliances and collaborating with the City Council, retail operators, property owners and stakeholders in the focus area

CCBA Aim
To make the central city a safer and more enjoyable environment for all to enjoy through professional management and communication with the City Council, Police, property owners, business owners, leasing agents and other stakeholders in the city.
We identified five key points as our primary focus for the first two years to bring about positive change in our city. They are… Security - Cleaning - Parking - Consistent Shopping Hours - Support Council's City Revitalisation.
