CITY MALL UPGRADE - Cashel West
City Mall Cashel Street works began in June 2008 and it had been decided to future-proof the mall and include the tram rails in the works.
The design treatment was a little different in Cashel Street with the designers choosing to create ‘garden rooms’ while keeping the overall feel of the upgrade cohesive.
The works team opted to use the lumothermic welding technique. This essentially moulds the steel together to an almost seamless finish and reduces the clattering noise often associated with trams running on rails.
The photo's below show The Terrace end of Cashel Street, city mall. This is where the project scope of works end. All work on the city mall are expected to be completed by November 2009.
