Winning Wheel Promotion

Thank you to all the businesses that have supported the Winning Wheel promotion so far. We have received $14,500 worth of vouchers to date and the Breeze team will be calling city businesses from today to assist in extending this support.

There will be live spins of the wheel each week in the city and we intend to do these from the various precincts so you all will get a chance to be a part of the promotion. We will highlight each precinct and promote its personality and what your area has to offer. The more vouchers that come from your area the better it will be represented. The Poplar precinct have banded together to pull an impressive $1300 of vouchers. Well done.

This will be a huge promotion for the city as the radio station is going to use this as their survey promotion. When radio stations go into survey mode, they go all out, so the value for the city will be exceptional not to mention the sponsors representation who are supporting it. This promotion will also be entered into the NZ community radio awards and they expect to win. I suppose they all do but they are confident they will win it bringing national recognition to Christchurch Central City and the sponsors.

Each business that donates a $100 voucher toward the promotion - You will receive $462.50 of air time.

This promotion will work a number of ways for you and the city:

  • Lets people know your business is open

  • Brings the winners into the city and to visit your store

  • They will spend more money while in the city

  • And raises the profile of the city centre for a six week period

The promotion will be launched live in the city on the Boxing Day Replay promotion to add further weight to this day.

To run this promotion we require $12,000 of sponsorship. I have already received support from the Canterbury Earthquake Assistance Trust, Malley and Co Lawyers, Tradestaff and the Taurus group. We are now looking for a naming sponsor for the promotion and if this is something you would like to consider, please let me know. Some discussions for this sponsorship are already underway.

The Breeze may contact you directly to register your interest but if you want to donate one or more vouchers for the promotion, please let me know.

I hope you all get behind this promotion because the more that get involved the bigger success it will be.

Boxing Day Replay

This is going to be huge and thank you to all the businesses that are supporting it with their campaign and advertising efforts. Our advertising schedules are in place and I have attached a media schedule of what is being done to support your efforts. I would like to thank CDC's Renee Walker for her support in pulling these funds together and putting the advertising in place.

We will be dropping in store posters for you to place inside your business or window. I am meeting with the polytechnic Circo Arts people tomorrow to discuss some entertainment to add colour to the city streets.

Advertising - How to get involved

If you want to advertise your involvement you can place an advert in one of the following

Mainland Press
Mainland Press Ltd (a locally owned and operate business) publishers of the leading community newspapers in Christchurch can help profile the sales as they target the lucrative market that have the discretionary dollars to spend.

  • The Bay Harbour News and Pegasus Bay News are delivered Wednesday 9 Feb.

  • Southern View and Norwest News the week prior on Wednesday 2 Feb.

Being fortnightly these publications tend to sit around the home longer, offering far greater home penetration, a recent readership survey in the Bay Harbour News area confirms this fact, with the highest readership of any newspaper . Advertisements will appear as run of paper and not be lost in a supplement, thus spreading the news of the sale throughout the publication. As a special benefit, any advertisers wishing to promote the boxing day sale, can do this at our lowest contract rate.

Simply emailing our Advertising Sales Manager Joan Smith at joan@mainlandpress.co.nz  or call her at 384 0600 and she will arrange for a consultant to contact you.

Both the Star and The Press are also doing something so please make sure you make contact if you are interested.

The Star - Rodney Rodney Laredo rodney.laredo@starcanterbury.co.nz

The Press - Contact your usual Press sales consultant or Meg Marsh P: 943 2526 or E: meg.marsh@press.co.nz

Radio - We will have strong radio representation and have secured further advertising from sponsorship

Festival of Flowers
The Festival of Flowers invites 10 inner city businesses to be a part of the Festival of Flowers. They will supply troughs, soil, mulch and flowers which can be placed in front of their premises. They would require a small contribution of $10 to cover cost of soil ( Oderings are generously supplying the flowers and Tuitime are sponsoring us with mulch).

Planting would happen next week between 31st Jan and 4th Feb, and delivered to businesses by 10th Feb. They will have volunteers to do the planting.
Please let them know by Wed 2nd who would be interested.

Ellerslie Window Competition
I would like to ask that you all to make an effort and put in a Ellerslie Flower Show window display. There will be many people in the city and it would be great to see the city businesses supporting it. If you have not received any information, please let me know and I will send you a digital copy. Ballantynes are doing a large promotion for the city and have invested a lot to ensure it is successful. I ask you to do your bit to help.

If you have not received any information, please let me know and I will send you a digital copy.

Kind regards,
